In one of their better batting performances of the season, City Colts have piled on the runs against Orange City at Loco Oval. With Henry Shoemark (125), Daniel Casey (115no) and Russell Gardner (102no) all making centuries, Colts were afforded the luxury of declaring their innings closed at 3-408 and having a bowl at Orange City before stumps. However, the Orange City openers dug in and took their team to stumps with all wickets intact and with 14 runs less to chase next week.

Just down the road at Bathurst Sportsground, Cavaliers have put themselves in a great position to wrap up the minor premiership having already claimed first innings points over Rugby Union.

After electing to bowl first, Cavaliers struck early as Josh Ward removed Sam MacPherson, Ryan Peacock and Tanvir Sign to have Rugby Union 3-20. First change bowler Toby Middleton then continued the wicket taking trend as Rugby Union slipped to 7-59 and then 9-77 before last wicket pair Jacon Ryan and Ali Wally took the Bulldogs to triple figures before the final wicket fell at 101. Kobe Muir top scored with 19, while Toby Middleton 4/12 and Josh Ward (3/8) were the pick of the bowlers.

In their reply, Cavaliers went to stumps at 5-154 with skipper Matt Corben leading the way with 60 and Bailey Ferguson scoring another half century, finishing 50 neat. Jacob Ryan finished with 3/8 off his 7 overs to be the best of the Rugby bowlers.

In the battle between 2nd and 3rd at Riawena Oval, St Pats Old Boys finished day one at 8-334 after CYMS had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Openers Bailey Brien and Andrew Brown added 67 for the first wicket before Brown fell to Clint Moxon for 51. Cooper Brien then joined his brother at the crease, and they took the score to 116 before Bailey was dismissed for 41. Connor Slattery joined Cooper Brien in the middle and the pair took the score to 155 before Cooper was bowled by Joey Coughlan for 53.

St Pats then lost a further 3 quick wickets to be 6-169, bringing Ben and Hugh Parsons to the crease. The pair put on 90 for the 7th wicket before Ben fell to Johnty French for 35. Blayde Burke and Hugh Parsons then added a further 85 for the 8th wicket before Burke was dismissed from the final ball of the day’s play for a quick fire 60 off 38 balls that included six maximums. Hugh Parsons remained 76 not out.

At Wade Park, a leak in the covers delayed the start of play, but when play got underway Centrals batted first and posted 141, with Josh Dawson making 55 and Grame Judge 29. Sam Knox (3/32), Jed Cruickshank (2/27) and Blake Kreuzberger (2/56) picked up multiple wickets for Bathurst City. By stumps, Bathurst City had made their way to 6-128 to be within sight of first innings points. Matthew Holmes made 50 at the top of the order with captain Cohen Schubert unbeaten on 21. Roshan Eiseman picked up 5/37 for Centrals to be the pick of their attack.
