Saturday 10 January 2026 will go down as a record-breaking day for BOIDC competitions.
In the match between Orange City and Cavaliers, 524 runs were scored in the day, which equaled the previous record for a BOIDC one day match (for the record that match was Orange CYMS v Bathurst City at Wade Park in the 2004-05 season).
The City Colts v Rugby Union match went one better, smashing the aggregate record by 97 runs, as their match yielded 621 runs!
Prior to this season, the highest team score in a BOIDC one day match was 308 set by City Colts in 2021-22. While that record was broken earlier this season when St Pats Old Boys amassed 356 runs in their round 3 match, we had two more teams go past this mark on Saturday with St Pats Old Boys making 348 and Rugby Union scoring 322 in their match against City Colts. You may recall that Orange CYMS also eclipsed this mark back in round 3, so we’ve now had 5 scores over of over 300 in the 22 year history of the BOIDC competition.
City Colts’ total of 299 also set a record as the highest total by a losing team.
Individual records broken too
In the same match, City Colts’ Russell Gardner set the highest recorded individual score in a BOIDC one day match on 158, eclipsing the previous record of 147 held by Cavaliers’ Craig Evers, set back in 2003-04.
With all of that going on, Hugh Parsons slipped in a 6/11 with the ball, which itself is now the 5th best bowling figures ever in a BOIDC one day match. Peter Francis, Paul Carver and Darren Burcher are the three bowlers to have previously taken 7 wickets in a BOIDC one day match, with Nick Lander’s 6/8 sitting fourth on that list.
